WHat to Expect
This page was updated on 11th January 2021
Currently our churches are closed, but when we reopen this page gives you some ideas about what to expect if you come to one of our services.
When to arrive:
Turn up around 15 minutes before the service is due to start (click here for Service Times) If you are driving then you'll be pleased to hear that the entrance to St Michael's is easy to find - it is part of the Tesco's traffic light system. ( see the Find Us page) . At St John's there is no car park, so you will need to park on Green Lane. ( see the Find Us page) . |
You'll be greeted at the door by our welcoming team who will help you to find everything you might need (including the loo) and to answer your questions about what to expect from the service, where you need to sit, etc. No question is a silly question - just ask and we will be glad to help you.

What to wear:
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not, just be yourself! What to expect: For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here's a quick summary of what you can expect at Your Church. First of all we aren't super-spiritual beings, we all had a 'first day' at church, you'll find we are a friendly bunch, if you don't understand something please simply ask. We start our morning services at 10.00am at both St Michael's and St John's. There is Junior Praise at St Michael's which children may attend during the service if they wish. On the second week of every month we have Family Praise at St Michael's at 10am so that all of the children can enjoy a service in the main church at least once a month. We also have a play area for younger children with toys and activities. After the service at St Michael's tea/coffee and biscuits are served every week. At St John's we gather for refreshments after the service once a month. Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired by the morning. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God. |
What we believe:
We are Christian churches and believe that all can have relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God's only son) who invites us to follow him. We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Sunday or you could check out the page "our faith".
Is it just Sundays?
Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We're not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do. To further encourage us we have regular midweek activities and groups. No question is too stupid and you'll find other people also exploring God for the first time.
For those with disabilities:
We aim to be all-inclusive. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact the church office. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces near the entrance to St Michael's and both churches have an accessible toilet.
